Evaluation of the regional train express in Senegal

Out. 23 2019

The Dakar Regional Express Train (TER) project aims to link the Senegalese capital to Blaise-Diagne International Airport.

Started in 2018 (the right date?), the project includes an extension of the railway network with the opening of a new line and the modernization of the existing one. It also includes the renovation of 2 stations, the construction of 4 new ones and 8 stops. Finally, two maintenance sites are also planned. The first one is dedicated to maintenance and storage and the second to infrastructure maintenance.

Bureau Veritas has been involved in this big project since the first step in the following mission:

  • Independent Security Assessment ISA. The teams evaluated the design and implementation studies of the various structural and functional components of the project, including their interfaces and interactions with the environment.
  • Technical control office, in particular in terms of fire safety, accessibility for people with reduced mobility, nearby structures and structures strength, strength of existing ones, roads and various networks and verification of the functioning of building installations.

In October 2019, a Bureau Veritas Exploitation expert came to Dakar to technically evaluate infrastructure such as stations, tracks and trains. Bureau Veritas executives who were also in attendance were able to appreciate the quality of the work carried out.
