International Day of Education

Jan. 24 2020

The International Day of Education marked the first Social Responsibility Event held by Bureau Veritas teams in 2020.

On January 24th, we celebrated the International Day of Education in Senegal, South Africa and Zambia. An opportunity for the teams to give back to their communities.

In Senegal, the teams visited children and young people of Village Pilote. They received notebooks, books and essential school materials.

Each meeting is an opportunity for the teams to support the children and raise their awareness of the importance of education.

In South Africa, the day was celebrated in Ntsikana Primary School. The day began with a welcome song from the students and a presentation of the company. Team members took time to sensitize students to the importance of education and career choices.

They also accompanied them into the classroom and played an educational version of bingo. Bingo cards were made up of different professions. The pupils took turns explaining what each occupation was about. The goal of the game was to introduce the students to a wide range of professions so that they would not be limited to known professions.

In Zambia, Bureau Veritas teams went to meet the pupils of Luminary school. Created in 2003, Luminary school is a community school which welcome vulnerable children, orphans and coming from old age managed homes and who cannot afford to pay for school fees. Today, the school carters for 1400 pupils.

The team donated books and took time to teach children, science and respiratory system for the grade nine pupils and government organ introduction for the grade seven pupils.
