Dez. 13 2021

Guan Chong Berhad (GCB) Cocoa Trading Côte d'Ivoire has called on Bureau Veritas Côte d'Ivoire to audit 6 of its cocoa bean cooperatives supplying cocoa beans, according to the new Rainforest Alliance 2020 standard.

Who is GCB Cocoa Trading?

Guan Chong Berhad was established in Malaysia in March 2004. The company is specialized in the manufacture of food ingredients cocoa-based , namely cocoa paste, cocoa butter, cocoa cake and cocoa powder. GCB started with 3 subsidiaries, namely Guan Chong Cocoa Manufacturer (GCCM), Guan Chong Trading (GCT) and Enrich Mix (EM) to eventually expand its footprint globally in Asia, Europe, North America and Africa.

What need the project covers?

The Rainforest Alliance wants to see certified farms run efficiently, transparently, openly, and profitably. Farms and businesses must implement an integrated management and planning system with processes and systems for continuous improvement in order to achieve this. Farm productivity and profitability, as well as reduced environmental impact, benefit from good management and planning. Increased efficiency in the use of land, water, fertilizer, and pesticides also helps with climate change adaptation and mitigation (Climate Smart Agriculture). The project's goal is to ensure that the six groups are adhering to the Rainforest Alliance program's requirements.

What is the mission of Bureau Veritas?

Bureau Veritas Côte d'Ivoire  will carry out the documentary audit and the audit of the activities on the ground for the 6 cocoa producers' cooperatives and decide whether or not these groups are compliant.
