CRITICAL USE CASE

Bureau Veritas empowered a global company with operations in 41 countries and 28,500 employees to conquer CSRD compliance challenges. Leveraging ISO 26000, we assessed their CSR maturity and conducted an EFRAG-based double materiality analysis to pinpoint critical sustainability issues. Our tailored action plans paved a seamless path to CSRD excellence, resulting in a robust strategy driving meaningful ESG advancements beyond mere compliance. Through customized solutions and steadfast partnership, Bureau Veritas catalysed this industry titan's sustainable transformation, exemplifying our commitment to enabling clients to thrive in the evolving sustainability landscape.

Challenges

The European Union's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), adopted on March 23, 2023, establishes a comprehensive and standardized framework for companies to disclose their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance.

Superseding the Non-Financial Reporting Directive, the CSRD aims to empower stakeholders with transparent information and spur businesses to embed sustainability into their core strategies, catalyzing the region's transition to a sustainable economy.

The recent Omnibus package announced on 26th February 2025 further strengthens the directive, ensuring larger companies with significant impacts bear the onus of comprehensive disclosures.

Adhering to the CSRD offers companies a competitive advantage through improved transparency, robust risk management, access to sustainable finance, operational efficiency gains, and the ability to attract top talent, positioning them as pioneers in the sustainability revolution.

BUSINESS CHALLENGES:

  • EU's CSRD presents significant challenges for companies: Adapting and integrating sustainability considerations into the core company operations, decision-making, and corporate culture
  • Expanding data collection and monitoring systems to report on ESG factors.
  • Ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and third-party assurance of sustainability data.
  • Investing in developing internal capabilities and expertise on sustainability topics for seamless implementation and reporting.
