Reinforcing Collaboration: Bureau Veritas and Standards Organization of Nigeria’s Strategic Visit to Dubai Facilities

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) delegation recently conducted a comprehensive facility tour of Bureau Veritas (BV) operations in Dubai to reinforce quality standards and improve collaboration. This strategic initiative aimed at leveraging BV's expertise in testing, inspection, and certification to ensure the integrity of goods and products in Nigeria's market.

SON aims to bolster quality standards and promote consumer safety within Nigeria's market landscape, the facility tour exemplified a harmonious exchange of knowledge and expertise. Leveraging BV's competencies in testing, inspection, and certification, this collaborative endeavor sets a promising precedent for future engagements, fostering mutual growth and development in the pursuit of excellence.

The tour commenced with a warm welcome from BV's Dubai office team, led by Mrs. Anitha Menon, VOC IO/Technical Manager; Mr. Suraj Nath, Manager of Government Service (GS) at BV Dubai, extended greetings to the SON delegation, setting the stage for fruitful engagements. Mrs. Foluso Aina Bolaji, Director of Public Relations for SON, expressed gratitude for the reception, highlighting the importance of the collaboration between SON and BV.

BV Dubai provided a comprehensive overview of its operations, showcasing its commitment to Business to Business to Society services. The presentation provided significant insights into BV's diverse approach, including revenue breakdowns, values, and industry activities.  The day concluded with a demonstration of BV's business tools, fostering interactive discussions through a Q&A session.

The following day, the delegation explored BV's laboratory capabilities, which are critical for ensuring product quality and safety. The tour, led by Mr. Anish Ashok, BV's Sales & Marketing Manager, included visits to the Chemistry, Microbiology, and Fuels Labs. Expert presentations and walkthroughs gave the SON delegates a firsthand understanding of BV's rigorous testing procedures and quality assurance measures.

The final day emphasized the practical application of BV's competencies, as the delegation observed a physical inspection at a designated site, 45km away from the BV office. Led by Mr. Ahmed Saleem, Senior GS Inspector, and Mr. Shawn Noronha, PIC/Insp Technical Manager, the inspection highlighted BV's meticulous approach to verifying conformity to standards before product shipment. This firsthand experience enhanced the SON delegates' understanding of BV's role in maintaining quality throughout the supply chain.

As the tour concluded, Mrs. Foluso Aina Bolaji and Engr. Kussiy Wanza, representing SON, expressed appreciation for BV's hospitality and expertise. Emphasizing adherence to the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between SON and BV, they encouraged continuous improvement in processes and systems. Engr.

In response, Mr. Suraj Nath, on behalf of BV Dubai, thanked the SON delegates for their valuable feedback, reaffirming BV's commitment to excellence. Mr. Isioma Alabi VOC Manager for Bureau Veritas expressed gratitude for the insightful tour, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in advancing quality standards under the SONCAP program.
