BUREAU VERITAS GUINEA AND THE NATIONAL GEOLOGY LABORATORY (LNG): A PROSPEROUS COLLABORATION

Nov. 7 2023

Bureau Veritas Guinea (BVG) has been selected from a broad range of international and local laboratories to accompany the National Laboratory of Geology of Guinea (LNG) in the analysis of bauxite and iron ore destined for export. As an established partner of several major mining companies, namely Guinea Alumina Corporation (GAC), Alufer-Bel Air Mining (BAM), and the Company for the Development of Mines (CDM). We operate three fully operational chemical laboratories and one mechanical laboratory at our customers' sites, recognized by the Guinean government as reference laboratories in terms of management and governance.

This partnership strengthens BVG's presence in the Guinean mining sector, providing an exceptional opportunity to establish a durable partnership with the Guinean Ministry of Mines and Geology. We view this agreement as a win-win collaboration, allowing Bureau Veritas Guinea to capitalize on its expertise and extensive experience to successfully carry out this national-scale mission entrusted to us. The BVG team, led by its Country General Manager, is confident in the future of the collaboration with the National Laboratory of Geology, and we look forward to contributing to the continued success of these mining operations.

WHO IS LNG?

The NATIONAL GEOLOGY LABORATORY (LNG) was established as part of Guinea's Triennial Plan between 1960 and 1963, with the objective of supporting geological and mining research teams. Its main mission was to develop geological maps of the national territory on a 1:200,000 scale. The LNG plays a central role in promoting geological sciences and research on earth sciences in Guinea, engaging in activities such as geological research, analysis of mineral resources, geological mapping, and other related fields.

Operating in a standard manner until 1995, the laboratory was then elevated to the status of a Public Administrative Establishment by Decree /95/151/PRG. This development was accompanied by a recent renovation, equipping the laboratory with state-of-the-art, cutting-edge equipment. This upgrade enhances its capacity to continue fulfilling its crucial responsibilities in the fields of geological research, analysis of mineral resources, geological mapping, and other related sectors.
